Our History

It was in 1964 that Alfred Quaid Berry first became involved in the real estate industry after selling his dairy farm called “lewrenney” in the Derwent valley and moved to Hobart. Being self employed it was only natural that he became a partner in a real estate company called “International Real Estate” of Hobart.

It only took two years in this agency which was a tremendous learning experience for Alfred to make the decision then to open an agency of his own. He applied and gained an Agents Licence, purchased 329 Main Road Glenorchy and opened under the name “A.Q Berry and Co” the first real estate agency in the city of Glenorchy.

It is fair to say that “AQ” over the years, became very well respected within the community mainly due to his family values and the business never looked back.

His four sons naturally became involved in the real estate industry, Paul and Michael gained their Managers Licence and John and Peter were very much involved in subdivision development and the building industry.

Nearing retirement age “AQ” sold his business to Roberts Real Estate and Michael became the manager of Roberts Glenorchy and Paul the manager of Roberts Kingston.

After working for Roberts for many years it was the will and desire of Paul and his wife Robyn to re-establish the well known Berry name in the city of Glenorchy. They decided to open an agency in 2006 under the name 4one4 Real Estate, it is of course located at 414 Main Road Glenorchy.

The 4one4 Agency soon gathered an enthusiastic team of consultants with “AQ” being the head of the family and the mentor for 4one4. Paul and Robyn welcomed their son Patrick into the family business which proved to be a bonus, because Patrick shows considerable promise and looks destined to make Real Estate his career for life as his father did and his father before him.

The success of the 4one4 agency encouraged Paul to open a branch office in 2007 located at Brighton and with the help of Damien Hollingsworth and Natalie Hyland well knows sales consultants in the Brighton and Rural area it has proven to be another success story with Brighton becoming one of the fastest growing areas north of Hobart.

4one4 Real Estate is now becoming a well know name amongst the Northern Suburbs and Brighton communities offering creative marketing ideas and concepts along with family values. This has proven to be a real point of difference that is hard to match by other large corporate agencies.
